A crowd cheers when the word, "DeKalb" appears in lights at a relighting ceremony to officially light the restored marquee of the former DeKalb Theatre, which now houses the Debutantes School of Cosmotology and Nail Technology, on Thursday, August 29, 2013. The theatre opened in March 1949, but the marquee has been dark since 1991 as several other businesses have operated there. DeKalb restored the marquee using TIF funds and Debutantes has promised to pay the operating costs.
