Kishwaukee Education Consortium criminal justice instructor Berna Popenhagen served a two-week internship this month with the DeKalb County State's Attorney's Office. Popenhagen spent 34 years in law enforcement, retiring two years ago as chief of police in Kingston. She said the internship has been eye-opening, giving her a new perspective on a different side of law enforcement. <br />
