This past semester Dennis Barsema taught a class at Northern Illinois University on how to create business plans. The plans had to be directed toward creating some sort of societal good. On Thursday evening, six teams made up of at least three students presented their plans for the first annual NIU Social Venture Competition. The winning team was awarded $10,000 by Barsema as startup funds.
