  • Brian Mauch, with his daughter, Kelly, first learned the newly opened Sycamore Forest Preserve at 955 E. State St. was open when he drove by one day and saw others there. The Mauches went to the park Tuesday to ride the new bike trails.
  • Several sculptures in the park were done by a maintenance worker with the forest preserve, Bob Knuuttila. When dead trees were removed, the workers left the stumps, which Knuuttila then carved with a chainsaw.
