The Sycamore Steam Show and Threshing Bee features not only displays of steam and gas engines, gas tractors, antique cars, a scale railroad and other antique equipment, but also live music, food vendors, a craft fair, a flea market, white elephant and bake sales, barrel train and pony rides, a World War II encampment and an FFA petting zoo.

On Friday, Aug. 11, Allen and Wade Smith of Grand Mound Iowa's 1920 18-horsepower Advance Rumely steam engine had its horsepower tested by a Prony brake during the 61st annual Sycamore Steam Show and Threshing Bee, held at the Taylor Marshall Farm, 27707 Lukens Road in Sycamore.

The 61st annual Sycamore Steam Show and Threshing Bee, runs 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Aug. 13 at the Taylor Marshall Farm, 27707 Lukens Road in Sycamore. Parking is free and admission is $7 for adults and free for children 12 and younger. Pets and alcohol are not allowed.

This 1916 22-horsepower model of the Illinois Thresher Engine, made in Sycamore, was purchased and restored by the Northern Illinois Steam Power Club. The steam engine is one of 23 on display at the Sycamore Steam Show and Threshing Bee Aug. 10 through 13 at the Taylor Marshall Farm, 27707 Lukens Road in Sycamore.
