John and Donna Freed give their cat Kitty some attention in their Sycamore hotel room before leaving for the veterinarian to be checked out Thursday. Kitty was rescued by Sycamore firefighter Scott Flatter a day after the St. Albans Green apartment fire which displaced the Freed's. The cat was found underneath a mattress in the apartment after Flatter went in to retrieve some of the Freed's belongings.
