John and Donna Freed's cat Kitty in their Sycamore hotel room before leaving for the veterinarian to be checked out Thursday. Kitty was rescued by Sycamore firefighter Scott Flatter a day after the St. Albans Green apartment fire. The cat was found underneath a mattress in the apartment after Flatter went in to retrieve some of the Freed's belongings.
