Iliana Perez said the parade is a nice way to enjoy the afternoon with her friends and neighbors. The Cortland resident said it’s also a good way to see all of the organizations that are part of the community.
“I also like the opportunity to see the [political] candidate," she said. "Smaller towns like Cortland should have more activities like this, so you can see who lives in your neighborhood. I’d love to see other towns participate in this parade, too."
Sycamore resident Ryan Hutchison brings his daughters to the parade every year. He said he likes the small-town feel of the parade and wants to support Cortland.
“Ever since I had kids, I’ve been bringing them here," he said. "They love the candy, but this is nice because it hasn’t grown as big as some other parades in the area. I know someone on almost every float."
